ThursdayDeparture by coach from Harstad / Narvik Airport Evenes approximately at 11 a.m., after the arrival of SAS and Norwegian airlines from Oslo Airport Gardermoen. We drive through the Lofoten mainland connection Lofast to Svolvær, which was declared as town May 17, 1996. Svolvær is a charming small town with approx. 4,300 inhabitants and offers an exciting harbor environment, small town environment and artistic environment simultaneously. Visit at Storvågan (Lofoten Aquarium, Gallery Espolin and the Lofoten Museum). Kabelvåg and Vågar was in the last century the most important fishing village in Lofoten. Here, King Øystein let build the first church in Lofoten, probably in the year 1103. Today, Vågan Church is situated here, dedicated in 1898, and with its 1,200 seats. The church is also known as the Lofoten Cathedral, and is the largest wooden building north of Trondheim. King Øystein Magnusson also let build the first cabins in Lofoten in Kabelvåg, about the year 1120. Lofotr Viking Museum. In the Iron Age there was 10-15 chieftain seats in North-Norway, and one of them was situated at Borg in Lofoten. Here, the farm of one of the mightiest North-Norwegian chieftains was found. Lofotr Viking Museum is a stunning reconstruction of the main house that was found from the Viking Age. The Long House is divided in a banquet hall, living area and an exhibition. Dinner. The museum buildings have for 200 years held various functions in the old fishing village. In the boathouse, cod liver oil factory, smithy, bakery and rorbu cabins experiences related to the Lofoten fishing, dry fish production, fish oil production, faith and superstition with Draugen and the Maelstrom are provided. Nusfjord has a composite construction that significantly derived from late 1800 and early 1900's. The village has been spared for large destructive fires and the buildings appear to be homogeneous without any element of newer styles. This gives Nusfjord its unique character. The fishing village is described as one of the best preserved fishing villages in Norway. Dinner. Accommodation in rorbu cabins. SundayBreakfast. Time on your own in the fishing village Henningsvær (also called "the Venice of Lofoten") with its many unique and small niche shops and cafes, Lofoten House Gallery w / multimedia display, Ocean Sounds research center for marine animals, candlemaker, photo exhibition, ceramics and glass production.
